Privacy Policy for the “Birthdays” App

The controller responsible for the “Birthdays” app is:

2. Principle: local processing

The “Birthdays” app is designed so that birthday data is processed locally on the device. There is no user account, no cloud synchronization, and no server-side database operated by Syntasia Studio for birthday, contact, or calendar data.

3. What data does the app process?

Depending on how the app is used, the following data may be processed and stored locally on the device:

• the person’s name, birthday (day and month), and optional year of birth,
• optional notes associated with birthdays,
• app settings such as reminders, time, language, theme, and sorting,
• local reminder data used for notifications,
• backup files when users create or import them.

4. Contacts and calendars

Contacts and calendars are read or searched only when users actively start the corresponding import feature and grant the required permission. The app uses this data to find birthdays and import them into the app.

The app is not designed to modify contacts or calendars. Write access to contacts and calendars is blocked or is not used for modifications. Contact or calendar data is not automatically transmitted to Syntasia Studio in the background.

5. Backups

Users can create local backups. These backups are stored as password-protected, encrypted .bday files. The password is required to decrypt and restore a backup later.

Users decide where backup files are stored and which app they use to share them. If third-party apps, cloud services, or operating-system features are used for this purpose, their respective privacy policies also apply.

6. Notifications and reminders

Birthday reminders are scheduled locally on the device. On Android, permissions for notifications and exact reminders or alarms may be required. These permissions are used exclusively to display birthday reminders reliably.

7. No advertising, tracking, or analytics

The app currently does not use advertising, tracking or analytics services, or advertising networks. Birthday, contact, or calendar data is not sold or disclosed by Syntasia Studio for advertising purposes.

8. Data disclosure

The app does not transmit birthday, contact, or calendar data to Syntasia Studio. Data is disclosed to third parties only when users actively use a feature such as saving, sharing, or exporting and select a destination app or service.

9. Retention and deletion

Data stored locally remains on the device until users delete it within the app, replace it through an import, or remove the app or its app data from the device. Backup files remain wherever they were saved and must be deleted from that location.

Because there is no user account or server-side database for this data, there is no server-side account deletion at Syntasia Studio.

10. Website and hosting

This is a static website hosted on Cloudflare Pages. No analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts are embedded, and no external font or image CDNs are intended to be used. When the website is accessed, technically necessary server or hosting access data may be processed by the hosting provider in order to deliver and securely operate the website.

11. Google Play Data Safety

The information provided in the Google Play Console should be consistent with this privacy policy. If no data is transmitted to servers, the Data Safety form should reflect the local processing accordingly. Contacts and calendars should be described as permissions or access used for the import feature where requested by Google Play.

12. Changes to this privacy policy

This privacy policy may be updated if the app’s features or legal requirements change. The current version will be made available on this website.
